A protected natural area, the Brière marsh is known as one of Europe’s richest wetlands.

For a very long time, the Briérons fed off the riches of the marsh by fishing and hunting. They cut the  reeds to cover the roofs of their dwellings and heated themselves with the peat. This has ensured the marsh’s long-term survival and natural maintenance.

The Brière nature park is home to many species of birds, making it an excellent observatory for birdwatchers.

You’ll be able to observe remarkable landscapes with reedbeds, wet meadows, lakes, canals and the salt marshes of Le Mès.
